Recruitment Agencies
The recruitment industry makes its money by being the middle man between you and an employer. The good thing is the agency will have a number of suitable jobs that they can put you forward for that you wouldn’t have access to (due to their contract with an employer) the bad news is they can be a little fickle and quickly lose interest in you if you aren’t what they are looking for. However agencies are likely to have built up a reputation and close business relationship with local companies and it would be a wise move to register your CV with them expressing keen interest in finding new employment.
Using the Internet
50% of UK companies use online recruitment as part of their strategy for attracting workers (OfTel survey). Some of the best general recruitment sites are:

www.jobsite.co.uk
www.gojobsite.co.uk

When using the internet to job search it is important that you have an excellent CV that you can use to market yourself with. CVdesigner.co.uk produces high calibre CVs that can be used for online job searching and provides you with a CV in word and PDF format.
Other ways to job search
Research your chosen industry and find out who the key companies are. You should then target them with an excellent speculative letter and CV. Your spec letter should tell the employer exactly what you are looking for and how you would bring a real contribution to their organisation. See Writing Letter section for more information.
A lot of employers rely on the CVs that they hold on file, and the new CVs that are sent in, to form a major part of their recruitment procedure. If a company can be bothered to write back to you and tell you they have kept your CV on file, they have normally done what they say.
Another good way of finding a new job is to make contacts, network and be prepared to communicate with people. There is no better way to be put forward for a job than by personal recommendation. Always carry contact cards with you so you can let people have your details. Always make sure your contact details are professional – especially your email address. If it currently reads hotsuzysue@hotmail you might want to reconsider making more of a professional email account.
And finally…if you are still completely stuck with any area of job search then please contact us at help@CVdesigner.co.uk and we will be pleased to help you with any queries or worries you currently have.
